Guyra Pairs ready to go

16 Feb, 2010 10:56 AM
With no club games last weekend I have very little to report. But I can say that Braden Sole has continued on a successful journey in bowls, he and his partner Jake Graham managed to be runners – up in the District Junior Pairs played at Armidale Ex Services, well done boys.

Also played at the weekend was the District Triples at Glen Innes where Guyra was represented by the team of David Wilcox, Ivil Reid and Geoff Reeves. From all reports they played well but were outplayed by a team from Walcha.

New England District Pairs are being played at Armidale City this weekend, and three teams are going down to represent Guyra, according to the draw on the notice board the games commence at 9.00am. Bowlers are asked to be at Armidale City Bowling Club by no later than 8.45am.

Club games set down for this weekend are:

Saturday February 13. Start: 1.30pm. Starter: Andrew Sparke.

Handicap singles: Braden Sole to play Mick Rusden marker Steven Sole

Robert Moore to play Cameron Peardon marker Dan Kennedy

Col Stanley to play Paul Johnson marker Andrew Sparke.

Please note PENNANT PLAYERS and INTENDED PENNANT PLAYERS there will be a meeting at the club TUESDAY FEBRUARY 16 at 6.30pm. On the agenda will be a decision on the makeup of teams, election of a new selector and a serious discussion on drivers for the courtesy bus.

The lights have been fixed and Thursday night twilight bowls are again on the agenda with names to in by 6.00pm.A sheet will be on the notice board for this purpose so come along and enjoy the greens under lights even if you are a novice, the game of bowls begins with a social night out mufti dress. Pennant bowlers please take note the lights are now fully functional and they can be used for practice particularly on Thursday nights no excuses now for lack of practice.

Saturday night twilight bowls for interested members again this week with names by 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start, so come down enjoy the atmosphere and companionship the club has to offer. Have a game of bowls no experience necessary, Mufti dress.

Until next week good bowling and good health.
