Tuesday October 20, as the first day of the Inverell Sapphire City Carnival, with two teams from here going over. We were served a nice morning tea when we arrived, after a few short speeches the bowls began.
We played 16 ends in the morning, after a picnic lunch we played another 16 ends. Betty Wilson, Maureen Lockyer and Lyn Roberts won the morning round. The other team was Bertha Reeves, Betty Riordan and Dot Jackson. We had some very enjoyable games but were not in the winners. The six of us won a Spider each.
On Wednesday, Betty Wilson’s team and Bertha’s team plus Betty Butler, Joan Jackson and Marg Vidler played. Betty Wilson, Maureen Lockyer and Lyn Roberts won the morning round. Bertha Reeves, Betty Riordan and Dot won the afternoon round and Betty Butler, Joan Jackson and Marg Vilder won the consolation prize. Congratulations to all winners.
It was one of the most enjoyable carnivals we’ve been to for some time. I’m sure everyone felt the same way as I did.
On Tuesday Betty Butler and Marg Vilder, went to Armidale to play in the Sheedy Pairs, They had a very nice day but didn’t win anything.
The Club Fours is on the board to be played on November 24, 1pm start, get sub or forfeit.
