17 May 12 | Round five of the Hockey New England competition hit off on Saturday with 3 of the women’s teams in action. 2nd grade continued their great start to the season dominating classics gold 10 nil. The team was minus coach Anthony Bull so knew a good performance had to be put in or else!
17 May 12 | Another win for Braden Sole this time in the Zone 3 Junior Singles played at Manilla, on Saturday May 5. Braden played Dillon Wells of Manilla in the Final defeating him 31 – 26. 17 May 12 | The Caspers travelled to Armidale to do battle with last year’s grand finalists Demon Knights. This was always going to be a tough battle with D.K only managing three draws from their previous matches and needing a result to stay in contact with the front runners.
17 May 12 | Negotiating the steep and slippery decline to the “City of Armidale” for the first time this season, many of our junior sides acquitted themselves remarkably well, coming away with some great wins. Unfortunately due to work commitments I was unable to watch any of the soccer this week.

10 May 12 | It was great to see 23 players turn up in Glen Innes on the weekend, for the second round of Rugby. The club struggled to get numbers in the pre-season, and now look to have a competitive team on the field. The Ghosts were too good for Albies, coming away with a 71-5 win.
10 May 12 | Another healthy home crowd gathered to watch the Caspers do battle with old rivals Glen Innes in what was a rematch of last year’s grand final. The Guyra boys knew they would be in for another 90 minute struggle against a very fit, physical and talented team.
10 May 12 | The Spuds were blown away when the Hawks flew out to lead 18-0 in the first six minutes of kick off. The Super Spuds actually did a great job to reel back the deficit to 26-24 and the defining point in the game was when Guyra grubbered the ball on the tryline and regathered and were certain to score when the referee gave Inverell the ball in a glaring mistake. Add on an astonishing 8-1 penalties and Guyra were continually on the back foot.
Busy weekend for Junior League
10 May 12 | Saturday saw Moree come to play at Guyra. Unfortunately Moree didn’t bring Under 8s, but the under 10s and Under 12s played their best. As most of you know Darrin and myself are President and Secretary and with no Under 16s it has been difficult following both Guyra and Armidale.
Sensational start for junior soccer
10 May 12 | Well what a sensational weekend to get our 2012 season of Guyra junior soccer under way. Conditions were exceptional for our first home round of the season, with large crowds in attendance. A mixed bag of results however with many of our sides slow to begin the season with any semblance of the form they were able to produce last year.

03 May 12 | With a couple of rounds of senior soccer serving as the appetiser, we now await with anticipation the main course. Yes that is right folks after a long off season with little to entertain and amuse us, and those long dreary summer months fading as a distant memory,
03 May 12 | Group 19’s illusions of grandeur were handed a humungous backhand jolt with ominous signs on the weekend when out of nine teams in the Group, only one A Grade game was played, with Uralla and Warialda opting to play Reserve Grade in a First Grade comp. Tenterfield joined their status forfeiting the A Grade against the Super Spuds.
