19 Aug 10 | Rain has again cancelled another weekend of soccer with the Armidale council deeming the grounds were unplayable and calling all games off on Thursday even though the next few days were fine, with Saturday turning out to be a beautiful day.
19 Aug 10 | On Saturday August 14 and Sunday August 15 the New England District Bowling Association Champion of Champion Pairs were played at Armidale Ex Services. Guyra was represented by the pair of Dan Kennedy and Chris Kliendienst.
19 Aug 10 | The Guyra Rugby teams had mixed success in last weekend’s semi finals but both teams are still alive in the completion and play in this weekend’s preliminary final with the chance to progress to the grand final of the APJ New England Rugby Competition.
Last competition game for juniors
19 Aug 10 | On Saturday Guyra Junior Rugby League travelled to Inverell for our last Gala Day. This was also our last competition game and all teams played really well.
Spuds taste defeat
19 Aug 10 | Last Saturday saw the Guyra 1st Grade team suffer their first loss of the season, going down to Glen Innes 28-24 in a very tough game of football. Our reserves narrowly went down 22-18 but the ladies flew the flag with a great win over the League Tag front runners, 5-2.
Golfers celebrate year
19 Aug 10 | Last Saturday night we held our annual golf presentation night, once again it was a huge success and we’d like to thank everyone who supported the night and congratulate all the winners throughout the year
12 Aug 10 | A home round advantage this week for Guyra Junior Soccer last weekend with some good results. The under 6 Jets came away with a great 4-1 win with this side beginning to play some great soccer.
12 Aug 10 | On Saturday the Casper first grade did battle with a depleted South Armidale team who were missing players through injuries and holidays, but as Coach Col stipulated it’s time to start putting teams to the sword and this is exactly what happened as the Caspers decided to go on a scoring rampage.
National honours for Guyra polocrosse player
12 Aug 10 | YOUNG Guyra horseman Harry Kirk said the experience to play polocrosse for Australia in South Africa this month was an experience he will never forget.
12 Aug 10 | The Spuds A-Grade side sealed the minor premiership for 2010 with a solid 42 points to 10 win over the Tingha Tigers on the Red Hill last Saturday.

12 Aug 10 | BOWLS On Saturday August 7 and Sunday August 8 saw the New England District Bowling Association Champion of Champion’s played at Guyra and for those that witnessed the games played enjoyed the game of Bowls and the challengers the Bowlers faced on fast greens.
05 Aug 10 | On the notice board are the nomination sheets for Club Championships for season 2010/2011. Nominations will close at 6.00pm August 31. So bowlers get your names and teams in for a new bowls season as soon as possible don’t delay and miss out.
05 Aug 10 | It’s been 12 years between games in Moree for the Guyra club, so no current player, other than myself and Dennis Jerrard has ever experienced a trip to play the Boomerangs in Moree, and thankfully, our young team’s first trip ended with a great result.
05 Aug 10 | The Ghosts have finished the competition round in second place After a slow start to the season, Albies have well and truly hit their straps since returning from holidays three weeks ago.
Good win for Abe in Tamworth
05 Aug 10 | Guyra boxer Abe Archibald has continued on his winning way, defeating Truman Robb from Sydney in Tamworth on Saturday.
02 Aug 10 | On Saturday the Caspers took on the might of the undefeated Glen Innes Highlanders. With attitudes positive after a very good training run on Thursday night the Caspers took the field welcoming back Nick Burey from injury but missing Jason Purvis and Brett Little.
02 Aug 10 | Junior soccer returned last weekend with some great results after such a long lay off. Fantastic to see those young players back on the field burning off some excited energy.
02 Aug 10 | Grafton club member Tony Ryder won the highly coveted “Cool 100” on Sunday at the Guyra Gun Club. Eighty-four shooters travelled to the Guyra grounds to contest the event. Five shooters, Dale Ellis (Guyra), Ben Rumbel (Guyra), Henry Phillip (Taree), Peter Holmes (Tamworth) and Tony Ryder all record a 100/100 possible in the Double Barrel Championship. Ryder shot 180/180 after a lengthy shoot off that concluded close to dark.
02 Aug 10 | Hockey resumed on the weekend after nearly a months break! 11s had the bye but 13s took on PLC and came away 2 nil winners. The girls combined well for their first game back and are set to make a finals appearance if they keep up current form.
