On a glorious almost-Spring, home-alone, Sunday afternoon I suddenly remembered that I had made a commitment to attend a Vegetarian Cooking Demonstration. Hot-footing it to Guyra Central School I arrived to be warmly greeted by members of the Guyra Seventh-day Adventist Church and was personally escorted to the kitchen; I think this escorting business was really because they were checking for the stragglers before commencing, but I thought it was a lovely touch!
What a great three hours investment this decision was. Not only were the demonstrations professional, fun and informative they were supported by a personal folder for each attendee, with that day’s recipes – and lots of blank plastic sleeves, all ready to have the next three demonstrations’ recipe sheets slide in alongside their predecessors.
There was a video camera and screen set up so we could see every slice, stir and shake of that day’s six-recipe demonstrations by three very competent foodies. Every move of the slick demonstrations was visible from wherever we sat but next time I’m going for the comfy chairs!
The nutritional and philosophical information, which were injected into the afternoon, were both researched and well presented.
Thank you Kevin, Deborah and Helen for sharing your tips and tricks.
Best parts of the day – only $10, great demos, lots of fun company and all you can eat! That is, of course, if there are only a few people there next time, like the last – but do yourself a favour! If you are looking for new and exciting ways to cook food, if you are a food lover or if you just need to have a change don’t miss the next exciting instalment – Number Two of Four. I’ll be there having eaten very little and ready for the fun of delicious vegetarian and dessert cooking.
