Former Australian cricketer Glen McGrath was guest of honour at the Elders Pink Tie Ball held at the Armidale Ex-Services Club on Saturday evening.
The ball was held in aid of the McGrath Foundation, the charity set up by Glenn and his late wife Jane in 2002, and the Armidale Oncology Unit.
More than $50,000 was raised through ticket sales, auctions and donations. Glenn said that the way that Australia had taken the foundation to heart still amazes him. “The amount of support and money raised especially in the last 12 months has been incredible,” he said.
A number of Guyra residents were present to support this great cause and hear a few cricket tales as well as a few about Elders agents.
