Within the space of one week we have progressed from an idea, to a plan to an approval to have a modern, enclosed learning area to be constructed on the agricultural plot to the east of the school grounds. Through the Building the Education Revolution Science Centre programme we have secured a magnificent funding opportunity to replace the three degraded agricultural science buildings to be housed all within one building.
The learning space will be contained within a large colorbond shed, with proposed toilet facilities for staff and students, workshops, dedicated animal and plant spaces and covered learning areas. What a huge boost this will be for the delivery of agriculture and science programs across the whole school. It will be wonderful for students to engage in their learning and practical activities without exposure to the cold winter weather and be protected from the summer sun. Agriculture is such a major component of our secondary curriculum as well as being fundamental to the local economy and local enterprises so the new facility will be a boon to the entire Guyra community.
We are operating on a very tight time line for the completion of the project as part of the Building Education Revolution with a project deadline date of 31st May.
