With the Healthy Highlanders program completed last week, we now move onto the next stage of post program assessment and evaluation. We have allocated several assessment time slots over a further 2 weeks with a choice of morning, afternoon or evening sessions for Healthy Highlander participants to choose from. As with the registration process, attendance at only ONE session is required to fulfill this stage.
What will the post program assessment involve?
• Weight, abdominal girth and blood pressure measurements will be recorded again.
• The completion of an evaluation form and post program behavioral questionnaire, similar to the ones filled out during registration week. (These may be taken home and done in your own time).
Why do we require
this information?
The Guyra Community has been afforded a wonderful opportunity over the last 3 months to experience a variety of movement classes, cooking demonstrations, healthy lifestyle information sessions and relaxation classes. The funding to deliver this program was provided by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing as an initiative to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.
So that future programs can continue to be offered, we are required to demonstrate that there are many benefits –improved overall wellbeing, weight loss, improved musculoskeletal function, improved cardiorespiratoy fitness, lower blood pressure, etc - to be experienced from this proactive, experiential and educational approach. All of these factors have an overall affect on maintaining wellbeing and reducing the occurrence of chronic, life threatening illness; as well as improving the ability to cope with adverse situations – emotional, physical and social - that may affect the maintenance of our wellbeing.
Please support us and the community by participating in the Post Program Assessment and Evaluation stage of the Healthy Highlanders Lifestyle Program.
A timetable of nominated session times is attached to Week 12 schedule, available at GALA, Café Black Board, Guyra Pharmacy, Kirks IGA and the Guyra MPS Reception.
