Fun triathlon planned for Show

19 Jan, 2012 09:39 AM
If you are looking for something a little different at this years Guyra show you need look no further than participating in the inaugural fun triathlon which is being planned.

For the uninitiated a triathlon involves participants competing in three different disciplines - swimming, running and cycling. The aim of the event is to involve locals in a fun event, which is a little different to the usual Showtime events.

To be held on Saturday February 18 organisers want to see a good roll up and urge people to start organising themselves as soon as possible. You can compete as an individual or as a team.

The triathlon will start with the swim leg at the Guyra pool, followed by a run leg around the recreation ground, then into the Showground and onto the bike leg. Be prepared for a few extra challenges along the way. The emphasis will be on participation and having fun, with entrants encouraged to dress up if they want.

Entry will be restricted to those over 12 years of age and there will be generous prizemoney on offer thanks to a group of local landholders in the Brockley/Bald Blair area.

Organisers are keen to guage interest in the event, so if you want to participate they suggest you get your entry forms in and start training now for what promises to be a good time for all.
