Black Mountain Public School News

The students at Black Mountain Public School are very busy at the moment learning in a range of topics including electricity and “places we know”. Literacy is a number one priority at the school, and the students enjoy a wide variety of activities to enhance their literacy. The highlight of each day is their reading group lessons where they study a wide variety of text types and respond to them. They particularly enjoy sharing the books they have been studying with their class mates. They do this by either reading a book, or parts of a book, to them.

Last week Black Mountain students enjoyed their sport afternoon with a visit from Ben Lomond Public School for a game of t-ball and soccer. This sporting activity is to be a fortnightly occurrence. They had a great time with their friends from Ben Lomond.

The primary class travelled to Armidale last week to attend an instrumental music concert offered by the New England Conservatorium of Music. The concert was called “Walk Though the Orchestra” and was a fantastic opportunity to extend the work they do in regular music classes at school. Students were captivated by the music and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies was amongst their favourites. Thank you very much to the Conservatorium of Music for this wonderful opportunity for the students.
