Our story began in Northern NSW, when a meeting at Clunes on 14th November 1892, with 40 attendees from small district companies and dairymen – On 5th June 1895 the first cream was put in churns and the first butter was made; so began Norco co-operative in Byron Bay in 1895.
Norco Rural consists of 29 rural retail outlets throughout south east Queensland and northern New South Wales. These stores provide rural merchandise and farm supplies for ‘the person on the land’ ‘the garden enthusiast’ and ‘pet owners’. As a co-operative, we encourage our milk supplier members to shop at Norco Rural to obtain patronage rewards, further boosting their total return from supplying milk to Norco.
Today we remain a diverse agricultural Co-operative committed to building financial strength and stability, which includes enhancing the economic vitality and diversity of the rural and regional communities in which we operate, securing a sustainable supply chain and developing win-win partnerships in the markets that we serve.
Norco employs over 700 people and is committed to maintaining the proud history for years to come. Norco salutes its forefathers, and hope they are proud of the commitment and tenacity.
